So you hurry through your day while a broken record plays. It might happen for a while, & then fail to reconcile. If a curse is in your head, & the gallows are in your bed, well it’s how you fell apart that might happen to depart. Please release these hallowed lines you seek; still, this forever will haunt you in your sleep. There’s a ringing in your ear; a recurring thing you hear. & this chatter & beguile it might matter for a while. Please release these hallowed lines you seek even forever is nothing you can keep. There’s a fire on the dawn & the cloud that comes along, & it’s how this all went wrong that won’t matter before too long. It won’t matter.

Trap 02:28
I have run into a trap again my dear & I fear that I won’t be here anymore. Turned to passing on a play that isn’t clear & I hear all the lines I left at the door. & I won’t follow you around no more. I’ve begun to understand the way you ache & I don’t know how long you can give til you break, but Fortune has a way of finding the awake so you’re keeping your watch & you’ll try not to flake. I can’t run around & make you more. Well I bet those shutters aren’t a cure for finding dirt on all your floors. & I bet those cigarettes will get you in the end--& I bet you know how long it’s been. I keep falling in this hollow here my friend & I follow it out till leads to an end but "I can’t circumvent this happiness." you swore, but before you can say this you need to be sure so I won’t follow you around no more.
3.
I get the feeling you have to go. All broken even, your hair can grow. A foreign coastline; this fiction's grown old. You follow vagrants that you see but you don't know. Forests, the forests have fallen. Storms they have blown water veins open. We search with floodlights & ghosts. & I must go now to wade through clothes that have no bodies, but there is hope. You were gone by the light of the river.
4.
Feel better 02:34
Well you grew up so wild, an illegitimate child. When the weather was mild, all the storms you reconciled came & burned the bridges down & left a black billowing cloud. I feel certain you found those dead letters by now. Taking water & brands chasing candy with demands. There were fires & fans, blowing nothing but our plans; & the more we talked around it made the point the more resound. I’ve been better now, but I feel better about it-- I feel. If they sent you away would you write home every day with your list of complaints & the ghosts that still remain? If they locked you up & threw away the key would you be happy? You’ve been wearing me out but I feel better now. 'cause I can’t do nothing about it, & I feel better now. I feel.
5.
Still in love--keep on losing your mind. All the papers you read got stuck in your head. The columnists criticized but they never said that if faith can be broken, then relief can’t be spoken, & pain has a pattern that moves in slow motion. You can go wrong, but how this has gone you must play along when feelings are so strong. Gave in to haunting a Protestant's daughter with a flame & a fondness for cauterized arteries.

Ride with me 02:33
Everybody’s here tonight but you ain’t in this scene. Bottlenecks & body types, some folks with gasoline. You know what they’re saying & they make you want to leave, so you should ride with me tonight, you should ride with me. It's funny how you’re fucking off with nowhere in between. Holding out & hibernating, hitchhiking in dreams. Honey you ain’t hanging on to hope that you don’t need, are you? You should ride with me tonight, you should ride with me. Maybe you’re so far away you’re thinking that you’re free. Maybe if you pass this way you’ll believe what you see; that nobody will pick you up without some kind of fee. So you should ride with me.
8.
There is a place of illuminating grace;there is a place you can’t hide. Cowards & lighthouses keep you awake,& so does the sand in your eye. We weren’t around when they opened this place. We won’t be around when it dies. You can see cycles & years roll away if you would just open your eyes. Walk ‘til the sunlight it burns up your hate out where the willows are wild. Darling, this water will cool off your face, & we’ll make it home in a while. We could see clearly the moon in its place, but we had to hurry inside. Honestly dear, there was nowhere to wait to watch the time pass us by.

Flames 03:27
You were looking too far past those eyes not to realize that I was looking to find anything that would catch your eye. & my head was full of names like a tale spun by King James, & our hands all filled with flames there. I found another tattoo. I took some pictures that upset you. I went out walking into... everywhere someone noticed you. & my bed felt like the planes that would carpet bomb the trains, & the land all filled with flames there. Got rescued by, & occupied by a foreign vessel, baroque & blind. Go out to find some other kind of motion picture to unwind. You were living beside moving hills, shaking window sills. I always hoped that you’d find we were two of the same kind. & the mountains burst to flames, & the fires filled the plains, & our hands all filled with flames there.
10.
Big mistake 03:46
Well there’s nothing you can make someone else can’t take. & you can do nothing great, for you’re here too late. So what, I might make a big mistake--so what if I make a big mistake? Well the end of this will pass through an hourglass. & the past that you forsake, it will soon awake. So what, I might make a big mistake--so what if I make a big mistake? If you never move away, then where will you stay? If you’re slow on the uptake, well you might just fake it. So what, I might make a big mistake--so what if I make a big mistake?
11.
Say my name 03:04
Say my name. No one else can swallow salt water like you; no one else can weather these waves. Say you’ve changed. Maybe you’re a part of these things that you do, maybe you’ve just been rearranged. Stay the same. Swallows seem to fly from the branches that sway, roots may grow & someday decay.
